Kristian James founded Hawkwood in 2016 and is its CEO and Founder. Hawkwood offers permanent and fixed-term recruitment of People and Talent hires, and fractional and embedded People consultancy, with offices in London, New York, San Francisco and Miami.
Before founding Hawkwood, Kristian spent more than four years at Michael Page in London (2012 to 2016), rising from Associate Consultant to Manager of HR permanent recruitment into Industry and Commerce.
In 2025 Kristian moved to the US to focus on Hawkwood's US build-out full time.
Kristian is also a Partner at Wave1, the on-demand People Tech team Hawkwood launched as a joint venture with Andy Turnbull.
Kristian graduated from The University of Manchester in Business Management with Chinese, and studied Mandarin on a language exchange at Sun Yat-sen University.
