About the Company:

Hawkwood is excited to be partnering with a recently VC funded B2B SaaS fintech start up. This company was founded by lending experts and entrepreneurs to address challenges faced by small businesses during the lending process. The team is based mostly within the UK, but has a globally distributed workforce, and is looking for it’s first ever People hire!

About the Role

As a People Ops Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of the people and culture in this rapidly growing SaaS startup. Reporting to the CPO, you will collaborate closely with the founding team, overseeing the entire employee journey across operations and processes, culture and talent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day HR advice and support for managers and colleagues.
  • Develop and implement ‘best in class’ strategies, processes, and frameworks to attract, engage, develop, and retain employees.
  • Enhance performance management, compensation, and reward processes.
  • Spearhead a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy to secure top-tier candidates across all disciplines.
  • Manage and provide guidance on complex employee relations matters as they arise.
  • Drive continuous learning by coordinating and executing L&D strategies and plans.
  • Uphold and promote our Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion policies and processes.
  • Design and administer regular feedback surveys on employee engagement.
  • Update and streamline employee reviews using appropriate software and tools.
  • Stay current on employment law and best practices to ensure accurate advice, policies, and procedures.
  • Cultivate relationships with external partners, including recruitment agencies, HR tech providers, and learning resources.
  • Oversee a third-party HR/people platform.
  • Collaborate on monthly payroll and benefits management with the finance team (and external providers as needed).

About You

  • Proven experience scaling People Ops and Culture in high-growth tech start up environments.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, resource-constrained, and globally distributed hybrid workforce.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a knack for engaging individuals at all levels.
  • Proficient in employment law, particularly in handling employee relations.
  • Skilled in end-to-end hiring processes, and adept at leveraging data for decision-making.
